NAJEEBA
FROM AFGHANISTAN
Najeeba
experienced a lot for a 12 year old girl like being having constant abuse and
threats just by walking up the street and sometimes getting raped.
She experienced a
pretty rough journey to Australia like going on a boat for 10 days where she
had to sit with her knees against her chest and getting sea sick and being
scared she would drown but she did enjoy going on the plane, but then she felt
a sense of hope when she was rescued by the Australian Navy but when she got to
where they took them she was scared because there were fences all around the
Derby detention centre (in northern WA) and the many guards surrounding her and
as she walked in to the detention centre and the gates closed behind her she
said to her Dad “We made a mistake, this is the wrong place.”
She was locked up
like a small bird in a cage, she feared for the ones they left at home, but
then the Australian Navy told them that they had a visa to continue their
journey into Australia they were so happy, Najeeba was 14 yrs old when her and
her father got out of the detention camp.
Najeeba doesn’t have
to worry about being attacked and doesn’t have to worry when her father leaves
the house that it could be the last time she sees him.
Well done Tiegan, I like your similie 'like a small bird in a cage'. Keep checking your spelling. Good writing, Ms Lidgerwood
