Work Experience: Central Salon
Date: 24-26 July 2013
My work experience was pretty boring as I did not have alot of tasks to do as the hairdressing industry is a boring and there is alot of just sitting around doing nothing.
My tasks changed but some stayed the same like I did would go and do the towels at the laundromat and wash the hair colour foils and bowls so after three days it got pretty boring but the upside to it was that I got my hair curled and then I got my hair washed, trimmed and straighetned.
I've been wanting to be in the hair industry since I was little but doing work experience made think that hairdressing isn't for me I think I just enjoy gettimg my hair done and watching them do it than actually getting in there and doing it.
As one of my mentors for the week said "You have to the love the job to love the money" so that made me change my mind I don't want a job that pays not alot of money I want to save money in life and actually do things I want to do.
I've had a think and one of the other things I wanted to do as a job is a Pattiserie Chef so I'm going to look into doing that.

I really enjoyed reading your post, Tiegan. Sounds like work experience was a useful experience in narrowing down your focus for future jobs. Sometimes the trickiest part is figuring out what you like. Do you have any idea of how to become a patisserie chef?

Miss Kelly :)
Tiegan, thanks for sharing your work experience reflection. Though it wasn't the most exciting week of your life, it sounds like you met some helpful mentors. The inclusion of the quote "You have to love the job to love the money" really enhanced your post. Having mentors in life is so valuable and it's good to have people to talk to. What characteristics make a good mentor?
ReplyDeleteWell done, Ms Lidgerwood
